Prof. Agricola Joachim

Prof. Agricola Joachim is clinical Microbiologist with over 20 years working experience in health care. She obtained her MD from University of Dar es Salaam, MMed (Microbiology) from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) and a PhD in Infectious Disease from the Karolinska Institute, Sweden. She is associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Campus College of Medicine, MUHAS. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students and involved in mentoring of Masters students. She has supervised over 50 postgraduate and undergraduate students.
Prof. Agricola is an active researcher, her research interests being largely in the areas of HIV, Immunology of infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, infectious disease epidemiology and reproductive health. She has served as a Principal investigator and Co-investigator in number of research projects. She has over 40 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
