
Dr. Yahya Ipuge
Dr. Yahya Ipuge is an independent consultant with over 30 years of experience in all aspects of healthcare (service delivery, academics and research) in East and Southern Africa. . Dr Ipuge obtained his medical degree (MD) University of Dar es Salaam in 1983 and his Master of Medicine (M.Med) degree in Microbiology and Immunology in a sandwich programme of University of Dar es Salaam and the University of Bergen, Norway. He has over 15 years of senior-level management experience of public health programs in the public, NGO and private sectors with a specific focus on health policy and strategies, health systems strengthening; health sector reforms and Disease Control (Tuberculosis and Leprosy, HIV and AIDS and malaria). He has held senior management and leadership positions with the Ministry of Health, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Clinton Foundation, the Ifakara Health Institute, the World Bank Group and EPOS Health Management. He has consultancy and research experience in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Malawi and has consulted for various clients including the Government of Tanzania (GOT), ECSA, EAC, WHO, USAID, World Bank, US CDC, CHAI, Irish AID, GIZ, EPOS, Avenir Health, AMREF, D-TREE, MSH, ITAD, HPI (now DAI) and DFID. Dr Ipuge is a Founder and Board Member of several organizations including THPS (Founder and Board Member), HIMSO (Founder and Board Member), Ensol Tanzania (Board Chairman), Malolo Hospital (Board Chairman), Massana Health Services (Board Chairman), Mkapa Foundation (former Board Member and Trustee), the Mwanamke Initiative (Board Member) and the Private Hospitals Advisory Board (Board Member). He has published over 100 consultancy reports and has several publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is a fan of folklore and enjoys telling stories to grandchildren!
